This Hip-Hop class will focus on foundational movement, learning basic technique and having fun whilst becoming more comfortable with dance, your body and Hip-Hop. There will be a focus on connecting to music, each other and your own body, learning choreography using Hip-Hop party dances we learn throughout class.
These workshops are presented by TRIBES Youth Arts Festival in association with Galway Dance Project and Creative Ireland.
Rachel is a teacher, performer and choreographer based in Limerick, Ireland since 2010. She received a BA(Hons) and MA(Hons) in Contemporary Dance from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, as well as an ADPA in Street Dance teaching from Urban Strides, London. Most recently, Rachel became Associate Artist for Dance Limerick and Artistic Director of Limerick Youth Dance Company. LYDC have already performed in Laois, Dublin, Belfast and Limerick. In her role as Associate Artist, Rachel was awarded a dance bursary from Arts Council Ireland to create the duet “No Following” with dancer Matt Szczerek. This was debuted at the What Next Dance Festival 2021.
TRIBES aim is to help promote self-esteem, critical imagination and self-expression among young creative youths by providing free performances, workshops and discussions for the participants.
